Let the first number be a
Second number = 5a
According to question,
5a + 21 = 2 ( a + 21)
=> 5a + 21 = 2a + 42
=> 3a = 21
=> a = 7
First number = 7
Second number = 7 × 5 = 35
Second number = 5a
According to question,
5a + 21 = 2 ( a + 21)
=> 5a + 21 = 2a + 42
=> 3a = 21
=> a = 7
First number = 7
Second number = 7 × 5 = 35

let the numbers be x and 5
if 21 is added to the numbers they would be,
5x+21,x+21
according to the problem the new number is twice the other number,
i.e 5x+21=2(x+21)
=5x+21=2x+42
5x-2x=42-21
3x=21
x=7
checking
let x=7
l.h.s
5*7+21
=35+21
=56
r.h.s
2*7+42
=14 +42
=56
