Let the positive number = 5x

The other number = x

On adding 21 to both numbers , we get ( 5x + 21 ) and ( x + 21 ) .

        5x + 21 = 2 ( x + 21 )

        5x + 21 = 2x + 42

        3x = 21

        x = 7

The required numbers are 7 and 35 .

Answer:

Let the positive number be 5x.

The other number is x.

If 21 added to both the numbers then,

2[ x + 21 ] = 5x + 21

2x + 42 = 5x + 21

42 -21 = 5x -2x

21 = 3x

x =21/3 =7.
