A positive number is 5 times another number. If we add 2 both the number then one of them become 4 times the other find the smaller number​

  • After adding 2 to both the numbers, one of them becomes 4 times the other number.

To Find :

  • The smallest number

Let smaller number be ' x ' ; bigger will be 5x

Now,

After adding 2 in both the numbers,

we get,

→ 5x + 2 = 4 ( x + 2 )

→ 5x + 2 = 4x + 8

→ 5x - 4x = 8 - 6

→ 1x = 2

∴ x = 2

Hence,

The smallest number is 2
