A positive number is three time another number if 3 is added to the smaller number the difference between new number and greater become 31 what are the numbers

Let the smaller number be x and the other number be 3x
So
3x – x - 3 =31
2x - 3 =31
2x = 31 + 3
2x = 34
x = 34/2
x = 17
So one member is 17 and other is 17 × 3 = 51

You can also check it, if 3 is added to 17 it will become 10 and 51 - 20 is 31
