The portion of conducting sphere near the positively charged rod will be in excess of electrons. Electron will move from away sides to near side of rod in the conductor. The other side will lack electrons. Therefore, there will be positively charge on that surface( can be said protons but not exactly).
Therefore, portion near to rod is rich in electron and portion away from rod is rich in protons.
