A potential difference of 120v is applied to combination of two capacitors C1=4microfarad and C2=12microfarad . connected in series . Calculate (a)the effective capacitance of the combination and (b)the potential difference and charge for each of these two capacitors.

Hey!!!!!

☺️☺️☺️✨✨✌️✌️

Solution____❤️

P=120 V

C1=4 mF

C2=12 mF

C_effective = C1×C2/C1+C2

C __ effective =12×4/16

☑️C __ effective = 3 mF

☑️The capacitors are in series so the charge is same through both the capacitors. But potential is different.

Q=CV

☑️Q=3×120=360 mC

Now,

V1=Q/C1

V1=360/4

☑️V1=90 V

V2=Q/C2

V2=360/12

☑️V2=30 V
