I = V / R

R = 990 + 10 = 1000 ohm

I = 2 / 1000 = 1/ 500 A

potential drop across the potentiometer = I x R

= 1/500 x 10 = 1/50V

potential gradient = pd / length = 1/ ( 50 x 2)

= 1/100 = 0.01 V/m
