Answer:

x gas is CO2 any Y gas is O2.Photosynthesis will occure in bright sunlight. This is the reason the volume of X gas decreased. The leaves turns blue black when tested with iodine solution.

X gas is O_{2} and Y gas is CO_2. The leaves will turn blue-black when tested with iodine solution.

  • When the plant is exposed to bright light, photosynthesis occurs. Hence, the Oxygen levels in the bell jar increases while Carbon Dioxide levels decrease.
  • The phenomena mentioned above happen because during photosynthesis, the plant takes in CO_2 and the by-product of the process is O_2 which the plant releases.
  • The leaves turn blue-black when tested with Iodine solution because there is a presence of starch, which is the food prepared by the plants through photosynthesis.
