The wizard gives Rickey a one-litre bucket and tells him that the bucket was an old one he experimented with, so it has a peculiar flaw - it leaks one millilitre of water for every step climbed up, but does not lose any water if you climb down any steps.
Rickey has a trick up his sleeve - he has secretly learnt to use a copying spell and can create as many copies of the bucket as he wants, but the copied buckets also have the same flaw. Also, he is only strong enough to carry one bucket at a time.
If the well has three litres of water in it, what is the maximum amount of water that Rickey Rat can carry up the stairs to successfully water the wizard's plants? a) 745 ml

Let us assume that, he formed two more copied of tje bucket . since he can take only one bucket with him but lets say that, he can take copied bucket with him .

so,

→ 3 bucket = 3 litre .

→ Each bucket = 1000 ml .

now, he starts climbing the steps . At each step he drops 1 ml .

so,

→ At 333 steps he drops = 333 * 3 = 999 ml .

now, 1 ml of water was thrown out .

then,

→ Left water = 3000 - (999+1) = 2000 ml .

he fill two buckets full now with 2000 ml water and continue .

now,

→ In next 500 steps water drops = 500 * 2 = 1000 ml .

and,

→ Total steps he covered = 333 + 500 = 833 steps .

→ Water left = 2000 - 1000 = 1000 ml (Put in one bucket.)

then,

→ steps left to be covered = 1000 - 833 = 167 steps .

therefore,

→ water drops = 167 * 1 = 167 ml .

hence,

→ water left in the end = 1000 - 167 = 833 ml (c) (Ans.)
