Solution :
According to question,
- Total journey = 9 km
speed of first half journey is 4 km/hr
- Half of journey = ½ * total journey
- Half of journey = ½ * 9
- Half of journey = 4.5 km
To find time taken by person in first half journey,
Now we use formula of speed,
⟹ speed = half journey/time taken
⟹ 4 = 4.5/time taken
⟹ time taken = 4.5/4
⟹ time taken = 1.125 hour
Hence time taken in first half journey by person is 1.125 hour
similarly, for second half journey,
speed of second half journey is 5 km/hr
⟹ speed = half journey/time taken
⟹ 5 = 4.5/time taken
⟹ time taken = 4.5/5
⟹ time taken = 0.9 hour
Hence time taken in second half journey by person is 0.9 hour.
Now,
⟹ Total time taken in total journey = time taken in first half journey + time taken in second half journey
⟹ Total time taken in total journey = 1.125 + 0.9
⟹ Total time taken in total journey = 2.025 hour
Answer : Time taken by person in total journey is 2.025 hour.
