Answer: 20 cm²

\text{Formula}: \text{ Pressure} = \dfrac{ \text{Force} }{ \text{Area} }

Given Information:

  • Force = 800 N
  • Pressure = 40 N / cm²

Substituting in the formula we get,

\implies 40 \:N/cm^2 = \dfrac{800\:N}{Area}\\\\\\\implies Area = \dfrac{ 800 \: N}{40\:N/cm^2}\\\\\\\implies Area = 20 \:cm^2

Hence Area upon which it is acting is 20 cm²

Hope it helped !!

As,we know

p=f/a

where f is force and a is area

so,20/800

40/800

=.5cm
