Given :

  • Amount = Rs. 1080
  • Time = 1 year
  • Rate = 8% per annum

To Find :

  • We have to calculate the principal.

Solution :

Knowledge required :-

In order to calculate the principal when amount, time and rate are provided, formula is given by -

  •  \underline{\boxed{ \bf{P \:  = \dfrac{I}{R \times T}}}}

Here,

  • P denotes Principal = Unknown
  • I denotes Interest = Rs. 1080
  • R denotes Rate = 8%
  • T denotes Time = 1 year

Substituting values,

 \implies \tt \: P\:  = \dfrac{1080}{8 \times 1} \\  \\  \implies \tt \: P\:  =  \cancel\dfrac{1080}{8} \\  \\  \implies \underline{ \boxed{\tt{\: P\: = Rs. \: 135}}} \blue{ \bigstar}

Hence, the principal is Rs. 135 respectively.

Additional Information:

Some more important formulae :-

  • SI = P × R × T/100
  • R = 100 × SI /P × T
  • T = 100 × SI/P × R

Here,

  • SI = Simple Interest
  • P = Principal
  • T = Time
  • R = Rate
