Hey mate !!

Here is your answer →

Given that -

Rate of Interest = 5% per annum

Time period = 12 months or 1 year

Amount = 840

Let the principal be Rs x

We know that amount =

P × R × T / 100

By putting the values, we have -

840 = x × 5 × 1 / 100

→ 1/x = 5 × 1 / 100 / 840

→ 1/x = 5 / 100 × 840

→ 1/x = 1 / 16800

→ x = Rs 16800

Therefore, the Original principal was Rs 16800

You may check the answer —

(Use P × R × T / 100)

= 16800 × 5 × 1 / 100

= Rs 840

Hope this helps
