The key field says it's optional. Is that not true? I get the same response as the original poster. I've tried in both Chrome Stable and Canary on the latest versions.

This error fall under the Chrome extension error. This can be eliminated by changing off the files name.
It will easily alter the reuse or delete the key function for the specific extension.
You can also see whether you are using the latest version of Chrome or not. It will help in the elimination of this error.
