the maximum height the projectile  can go is 5*10^6m

The maximum height h reached by the projectile is given by

                   h=(vsinФ)²/2g

    where Ф is the angle of projectile

          and v is the velocity of the projectile

                  g is accleration due to gravity

        in the given question the projectile is thrown vertically upward hence

             Ф=90⇒sin90=1

              h=(10*10^3)²/2*10

                  =5*10^6m
