A protein loses its normal shape and is no longer able to perform its normal functions (because of a disruption due to heat, pH change, etc.). What type of non-working protein is this now said to be?

Such kind of proteins are called Denatured proteins

Proteins whose shape changes, due to change in Ph, heat is called as denatured proteins. Change of shape results in the proteins unable to perform their regular functions

When the changes that occur cannot be repaired, then such kinds of protein cannot function normally. They are Denatured proteins

These types of proteins are called denatured proteins.

Proteins can lose their normal shape and are unable to perform their normal functions.

Protein denaturation may involve the disruption and destruction of both secondary and tertiary structures.

Heating of proteins may result into disruption of hydrogen bonds and non-polar hydrophobic interactions due to increased kinetic energy. Increased kinetic energy causes the molecules to vibrate rapidly and violently that bonds are disrupted.

Heating of egg results in denaturation and coagulation of proteins during cooking.

Denaturation processes are not able to break the peptide bonds so primary structure of the protein remains after a denaturation which disrupt the normal alpha helix and beta sheets in a protein and uncoils it into a random shape.

Medical appliances and instruments are sterilized by heating to denature the proteins in bacteria to destroy the bacteria.
