A proton enter a magnetic field at right angles to it. What is the direction of the force acting on the proton
Answers
by flemings left hand rule
Fleming Left-Hand Rule- gives the force experienced by a charged particle moving in a magnetic field or a current-carrying wire placed in a magnetic field.
It staes that "Stretch the thumb, the forefinger and the central finger of the left hand so that they are mutually perpendicular to each other.
If the forfinger points in the direction of the magnetic field, the central finger points in the direction of motion of chargem then the thumb points in the direction of forece experienced by positively charged particles.
Therefore,
A proton enters a magnetic field at right angles to it. Therefore, it will experience a force and the direction of force is caculated using Flemings left hand rule
1- Forefinger; In the direction of the field(Towards left)
2.Middle finger : In the direction of current(Upwards)
3. The thumb is pointing into the paper,
The direction of force acting on the proton will be into the page,
Hence, A proton enters a magnetic field at right anles to it, as shown above, The direction of force acting on the proton will be into the page
