Given:

The velocity of the proton is 1.25 m/sec

mass of helium is 4

To find:

The velocity of the proton after collision

Solution:

The conservation of momentum is

before = final momentum.

mu+m'u'=mv+m'v'

1.25m+0=4.v+0

1.25m/4=v

As the before the velocity of proton is 1.25

After the collision the

Velocity  of the helium become 1.25m/4 m/sec

The velocity of proton become zero.

As the proton came to rest after the collision
