A publisher offers 22 copies for 20 copies of the same book ordered and a cash discount of 10%. what is the net value of the discount to the buyer ?
Answers
Answer:
11%
Step-by-step explanation:
let the total value of 22 books=x
first 20 books got 10% discount.
then the 20 books got discount=(20x/22)*10%
which is equal to x/11.
again from the first the 2 books sold at x/11.
then the total value of books after discount is
x/11+(20x/22-x/11)=20x/22
again the original amount=x
but the value we got=20x/22
so discount=x-20x/22
% of discount= 11%.
Given :- A publisher supplies 22 copies for every 20 copies ordered and also a cash discount of 10%. what is the net value of discount ?
Solution :-
it has been given that, the publisher supplies 22 copies for every 20 copies .
so,
→ Extra copies given = 22 - 20 = 2 copies.
and,
→ Total copies the buyer received = 22
then,
→ Discount given = (Extra copies * 100) / (Total copies received)
→ Discount the buyer received in first case = (2 * 100) / 22 = (100/11) % .
Now, we have given that, cash discount of 10% is also given to the buyer .
and, we have to find the successive discount . we know that,
- D = - A - B + (AB/100) { where A and B are individual discount.)
and, now we have values of both A and B which are :-
- A = (100/11)
- B = 10
Putting both values we get,
→ D = (-100/11) + (-10) + [{(-100/11) * (-10)}/100]
→ D = (-100 - 110)/11 + (1000/1100)
→ D = (-210/11) + (10/11)
→ D = (-210 + 10)/
→ D = (-200) / 11
→ D ≈ 18.18 %
here, Negative sign refers to discount .
Hence, we can conclude that, net value of discount was 18.18 % .
