a pulse is generated at one end of the slinky of lenght 10 m .The pulse returns back to its point of generation in 10 seconds.what is the velocity of the pulse produced by the slinky?

lamda=10 m
time =10 second
f=1/t=1/10= 0.1hz

v=f×lamda
=0.1 × 10
v= 1m/s

Sthiti1234: till my understanding goes, you cant use lamda and frequency relation in the production of pulse. Its used to know the velocity of sound.

Total distance travelled by the pulse=(10 x 2)m=20 m 
Total time taken by it=10 secs
Velocity =total distance/total time=20m/10 secs=2 m/s.
