a pump can fill a tank with water in 2 hours. because of a leak, it took 2 1/3 hours to fill a tank. how long hours the leak can drain all the water in the tank?

Solution :

the pump can fill the tank in 2hours but because at the leak it took 2 ⅓ hours to fill a tank

I. e. additional water filled by the pump in ⅔ hours is emptied by the leak in

2⅔ = 8/3 hour

therefore water filled by pump in 2 hour

emptied by the leak in

= 8/3 x 3

= 8 hour

I. e. the leak can all the water of the tank in 8 hour

Extra information :

distance : it is the length between two points measure in meter, miles,and kilometre

Distance = speed x time

speed : speed is distance covered by per unit time

speed = distance/time

time : duration of traveling the given distance at a certain period measure into second, minute, hour , day, week, year

time = distance /speed
