Given conditions ⇒

Mass of the Water pumped per minutes = 1000 kg.

Height of the well = 12 m.

∴ Energy used in pumping the water = Change in Potential energy

= mgh - 0

=  1000 × 10 × 12 = 120000 J.

Power = Work/Time

= 120000/60

= 2000 W.

To Convert it into Horse Power,

∴ 1 Hp = 746 W.

∴ 2000 W = 2000/746 Hp. = 2.68 Hp.

Hope it help.s
