Answer:

There answer is 2.4 KW

Explanation:

According to the problem the mass of the water is 12000 kg

and the pump eject speed is 4 m/s

now the time is 40 sec

now the force, f = m x v/t

                            = 12000 x 4/40

                            = 1200 N

let the acceleration is a

a=  F/m = 1200/12000

              = 1/10

now,

S=  ut + 1/2 at^2

  = 0 +1/2 x 1/10 x 40 x 40

 =  80 m

the work is,

w=  F . S

 = 1200 x 80

 = 96000

Therefore the average rate of working

x = 96000/40

   =  2400W

   = 2.4 KW
