Given info : A pump empties a swimming pool in 40 min at the rate 1400 L/min.

To find : time taken to empty the tank if the rate of pumping is 2000 L/min.

Solution : water could be filled in the swimming pool = rate of pumping × time

= 1400L/min × 40 min

= 56000 L

Now, the rate of pumping is 2000 L/min.

so time taken to empty the swimming pool = volume of water could be filled in the swimming pool/rate of pumping

= 56000L/(2000L/min)

= 28 min

Therefore the swimming pool will be emptied in 28 min if the rate of pumping is 2000 L/min.
