A pump is used to lift 500 Kg of water from a depth of 30m to height of 50m in 10s. Calculate the : (i) Work done by the pump and (ii) Power rating of the pump if its efficiency is 40%. Take g = 10 m/s2.

            w= 500 x (50-30)

             w= 500 x 20

             w=10000 J

ii/ power = workdone/time

p = 10000)/10

P1 =1000W

effience e =p2/p1

p2 = 0.4 x1000

power output p2 =400w
