A pump is used to raise water through a height of 20cm.It transfers 200kg of water in 15 minutes.Calculate the power of the pump.(g=10m/s^2

Height through which water is raised=20cm=0.2m.

Mass of water raised=200kg

Time taken=15mins.=900sec.

Now, work done to raise the water=Potential energy of the water

=mgh

=200×10×0.2

=400J.

Now, power required by the pump to raise the water=work done/time

=400/900

=0.44J/sec.
