Given:

A pump of power 1500W is used for 5 minutes.

To find:

Energy delivered by the pump.

Calculation:

Power is often defined as the instantaneous rate of doing work.

In other words , the net work done by a engine can be calculated by multiplication of the power and the time for which the engine operates.

  • For calculating the work in joule , power unit must be watt and time unit must be seconds.

 \rm \therefore \: power =  \dfrac{work}{time}

 \rm  =  >  \: work = power \times time

 \rm  =  >  \: work = 1500 \times (5 \times 60)

 \rm  =  >  \: work = 1500 \times 300

 \rm  =  >  \: work = 45 \times  {10}^{4}  \: joule

 \rm  =  >  \: work = 450\: kilojoule

So, the work done by the pump is 450 kJ.
