Given;

purchased,

  • 3 dozen apples at Rs 240/dozen
  • 2 dozen apples at Rs 360/dozen
  • 5 dozen apples at Rs 180/dozen

To Find;

  • Average cost of the Apple

Solution;

  • Total cost of 3 dozen apples = 3 × 240

= Rs 720

  • Total cost of 2 dozen apples = 2 × 360

= Rs 720

  • Total cost of 5 dozen apples = 5 × 180

= Rs 900

  • total number of apples purchased

= (3 × 12)+(2 × 12)+(5 × 12)

= 36 + 24 + 60

= 120

Therefore;

Total cost of all the apples = 720 + 720 + 900

= Rs 2340

Formula Used;

  • Average cost of apples

= total cost / total number of apples

Substituting the values;

Average cost = 2340/120

= Rs 19.5

Conclusion;

  • The average cost of the Apple is Rs 19.5
