Answer:

Solution : Let the number of 50-rupee notes =

x

Then, the number of 10-rupee notes = (× + 1)

According to the problem

Value of 50-rupee notes + value of 10 - rupee notes = 250

i.e.,. 50

x \:  +  \: 10 \: ( x + 1) = 250 \\

=>5 \: x \:  +  \: (x + 1) = 25

=>5x \:  +  \: x \:  = 25 - 1

=>6 \: x \:  = 24

=>x =  \frac{24}{6}  = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Hence, the number of 50 rupee notes = 4, and the number of 10 rupee notes is 4 + 1, i.e., 5.

Check : Total amount in the purse = Four 50 rupee notes + Five 10 rupee notes.

= (50 × 4 + 10 × 5 ) = (200+50) = 250.
