Let the number of 10 rupee notes be x

so the number of 50 rupee notes are x-1

Now

10x + 50(x-1) = 250

10x + 50x -50 = 250

60x - 50 = 250

60x = 250 +50

60x = 300

x = 300/60 = 5

Therefore

no of 10 rupee notes = 5

no of 50 rupee notes = 4
