A purse contains 4 silver and 5 copper coins.A second purse contains 3 silver and 7 copper coins.If a coin is taken out at random from one of the purses,what is the probability that it is a copper coin?

For the fist bag the probability is 5/9
For the second bag the probability is 7/10

The probability for both the bags is 113/180

OK... according to the question, purse 1 has 5 copper among 9 total coins... purse 2 has 7 copper of 10 total coins. ....now probability of copper in purse 1 is 5/9 while purse 2 is 7/10 . even the probability of picking one purse out of 2 is 1/2. thus add up the probability of copper from both the purses and divide them by 2 as there are 2 purses to choose fro. answer is wait please... (5/9+7/10)/2. I.e. 113/180
