Suppose there are x 10 rupee notes, then x-1  be the 50 rupees notes

Then by condition

10x+50(x-1)=250

10x+50x-50=250

60x=250+50

60x=300

x=300/60=5

Therefore there are 5 10 rupee notes and

5-1= 4 50 rupees notes
