a purse contains rs.50000 in notes  of denominator  of rs.500 and rs.100. if the total numbr of notes is 200 find the nmbr of each type of notes

Consider the number of Rs 500 notes to be 'x'.
Consider the number of Rs 100 notes to be 'y'.

Since the total amount is given as 50,000
     500x+100y=50000 .
⇒5x + y = 500       ⇒(equation 1)

Since the total number of notes is 200,
  x +y = 200 .
⇒y= 200 - x             ⇒(equation 2)

substituting eqn (2) in eqn (1)
 5x + 200 - x = 500
               4x = 300
                 x = 75.
 substitution the value on x in any eqn, we get y=125.
 Therefore, no of Rs 100 notes ⇒125
                 no of Rs 500 notes ⇒75
