A purse has some Rs.2 coins and Rs. 5 coins .the total value of the coins Rs.165. If the number of Rs.5 coins are 5 more than Rs.2 coins find how many coins each are there in the purse

Let the number of Rs 2 coins be x then that of Rs 5 coins will be (x + 5)

Their total value in terms of x is :

2x + 5(x + 5) = 2x + 5x + 25

This equal to 165

2x + 5x + 25 = 165

7x = 140

x = 20

The Rs 5 coins are thus :

20 + 5 = 25

The total number of coins is 25 + 20 = 45 coins
