Given:

Q = sinx + cosx

To Find:

Maximum value of the given function ?

Solution:

Q = sinx + cosx

[ According to trigonometry;

Maximum value for sin and cos function is given by,

let a function f(x) = asinx + b cosx

Thus, maximum f(x) = \sqrt{a^{2} +b^{2} } ]

Therefore, in given question,

a = 1 ; b = 1

maximum Q = \sqrt{1^{2} +1^{2} }

                    = \sqrt{2}

Hence the maximum value of Q will be \sqrt{2} .
