Answer:

c) 1653 runs

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Here, it is given that there were no wide, no extras and no over throws.

The runs scored are solely the single batsman’s play.

So, we have to take care such that he plays each and every ball i.e., 300 balls.

2) We have to keep one important in mind. That is after every over, the chase of the bat for the batsman is exchanged. This very point is the key to the answer.

3) The second point to keep in mind is that apart from boundaries and if a batsman is supposed to score runs by running, he can at the maximum score 3 runs per balls (in fact he can even score an infinite runs which is not practically possible).

So let us start the match:

1) The first over contains 6 balls. Assume the batsman played 5 sixes and the last ball 3 runs. This is because in the next over again he would pick up the bat.

So first over has a total score of 5 x 6 + 3 = 33

2) Similarly, for 49 overs — 49 x 33 = 1617

3) Now, the final over in which he need not run the last ball. He can play 6 sixes = 6 x 6 = 36

So, the maximum runs one single player can score = 1617 + 36 = 1653 runs.

Option C - 1653 runs

Given data:

A player should score in a One-day match (50 overs/ 300 balls)  with no 'no balls', no wides, no extras, no overthrows.

To find:

The maximum runs he could score as per the information given.

Solution:

To get the maximum runs under the given condition,

For the first 49 overs, the first five balls of each over should get hit as a six.

The last ball of each over should be a 3 run, in order to get the strike for the next over as in maximum (as there are no overthrows.)

So, for each over in the first 49 overs, we get

For first 5 balls of the over :  5 x 6 = 30

For the last ball of the over: 1 x 3 = 3

Total per over = 30+3 = 33 runs

So, for the first 59 overs, he scores 33 x 49 = 1617 runs

In the last over, as the strike stays with him throughout, he can hit 6 sixes out of the park and finish the match.

So, in the last over i.e., 50th over, he scores 6 x 6 = 36 runs

Total runs he score in the 50 overs = 1617 + 36 = 1653 runs.

Therefore, the maximum number of runs the player can score in a one-day match of 50 overs is 1653 runs (with no 'no balls', no wides, no overthrows, no extras).
