A question states " A person takes concentrated solution of salt, after sometime, he starts
vomiting. What is the phenomenon responsible for such situation? Explain." The answer to this question is osmosis. My question is that why doesn't the same thing happen when we eat sweets?

Explanation:

This is because osmosis occurs in water medium. The concententration of water differ in the body from that in the salt solution. Thus the person vomits but with sweets this cannot happen because the concententration of water in sweets is nearly negligible.

shubh010305: just a doubt...dont sweets count as hypertonic? If they do, then osmosis should occur, right?
