As Each monkey had a parrot → Total no of Parrots = 2 × 1 = 2 parrots.

And so it is not mentioned that elephant is not going to the river.

Hence animals went to river = 1 rabbit + 2 monkeys + 2 parrots
     
                                             = 5 animals.
