Explanation:

  • When an alpha particle is emitted ,the mass number decreases by 4 and the atomic number decreases by 2
  • when an beta particle is emitted the mass number does not change but the atomic number increases by 1

therefore

mass numberof daughter element = INITIAL MASS NUMBER (A) - 4 ( for 1 alpha)

= 232-4 = 228

atomic number of daughter element =

INTIAL ATOMIC NUMBER - 2(for 1 alpha) + 2 ( for 2 beta )

= 90-2+2 = 90
