Given : half-life of about 6 hours.

To Find :  The fraction of this material that would remain after 30 hours

a) 1/32

b) 1/5

c) 1/2

d) 4/5

Solution:

half-life of about 6 hours.

=> Every 6 hours it remains half

Let say Original = N

After 6 hrs  = N/2

After 6 + 6 = 12 hrs   = (N/2)/2 = N/4

After 12 + 6 = 18 hrs   = (N/4)/2 = N/8

After 18 + 6 = 24 hrs   = (N/8)/2 = N/16

After 24 + 6 = 30 hrs   = (N/16)/2 = N/32

N/32 = (1/32)N

(1/32) fraction of this material  would remain after 30 hours
