it is 450m. far in South
____________________________________ train goes in North=1000m+600m
=1600m
train goes in South=1250m+800m
=2050m
train far from station=2050m-1600m=450m

The engine is 450m far from the station in the south direction.

Given:

The engine moves 1000m north followed by 1250m south, 600m north, and 800m south.

To Find:

Distance of the engine from the station and the direction.

Solution:

First, the engine moves 1000m north.

Next, it reverses back to 1250m south.

So, distance and direction from station= 1250-100= 250m south

Then again, the engine moves 600m north.

So, distance and direction from station= 600-250= 350m north

Finally, the engine moves 800m south.

So, final distance and direction of the engine from the station= 800-350= 450m south.

Therefore, the engine is 450m away from the station in the south direction.
