A railway half ticket costs half-full fare and reservation charge is the same on half ticket as on full ticket. One reserved first-class ticket from Mumbai to Delhi costs rupees 4150 while one full and one half reserved first-class tickets cost rupees 6255. What is the basic first-class full fare and what is reservation charge?

Let's take the one full fare as "x" ,

So half fare would be "x/2"

And let the reservation cost be "y" ... Now,

According to question...

One full reserved ticket = 4150    --- (1)

And One full and a half reserved ticket = 6255    ---- (2)

So replacing them with variables...

For (1) You would get "x+y = 4150"   --- (eq.1)

For (2) You have, "(x+y)+x/2+y = 6255"      --- (eq.2)

 [Each ticket will have it's own reservation charge....]

Now in the eq.2

     By replacing (x+y) value you get "x/2+y = 2105"

   =x+2y = 4210    (*2 both sides)    --- (eq.3)

Now solve both (eq.1) and (eq.3)

By solving you get y=60

                              x=4090

So the Full ticket cost is Rs.4090 and the reservation cost is Rs.60,

half ticket cost is Rs.2045
