A railway train 50 m long moving on straight and level tracks passes a pole in 5 s. Find
(i) the speed of the train, (ii) the time it will take to cross a bridge 450 m long.

(i) the speed of the train,

speed = Distance/Time

 =  \frac{50 \: m}{5 \: s}  = 10 \:  \frac{m}{s}

(ii) the time it will take to cross a bridge 450 m long

total distance = length of bridge + lenght of train

d = 450 + 50 = 500 m

t =  \frac{450 + 50}{10}  =  \frac{500}{10} = 50 \: seconds
