Given,

The length of the ramp = 13 feet

Height from the ground = 5 feet

To find,

The horizontal distance between the front door and the point where the ramp touches the ground.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

If we compare the whole scenario with a right angle triangle then we will get that,

Height = Height from ground = 5 feet

Hypotenuse = Length of the ramp = 13 feet

Horizontal distance between door and touching point of ramp to the ground = x feet (assume)

According to the Pythagoras theorem,

(x)²+(5)² = (13)²

x²+25 = 169

x² = 144

x = 12

Hence, the horizontal distance between the front door and the point where the ramp touches the ground is 12 feet.
