Standard error of the Sample mean is about 0.424  if Standard deviation of  population is 3 inches and sample of 50 is picked

Given:

  • Random sample of 50 without replacement
  • Standard deviation of the distribution 3 inches

To Find:

  • Standard error of the Sample mean

Solution:

Formula to be used:

SE =  Standard deviation of population / √Sample size

SE = Standard Error = ?

Standard deviation of population  = 3

Sample Size = 50

Substitute the values

SE =3/√50

SE ≈ 0.424

Standard error of the Sample mean is about 0.424  if Standard deviation of  population is 3 inches and sample of 50 is picked
