Given:

the random values of x 0, 1, 2, and the mean is 1.2

P(x= 0) = 0.3

To Find:

P(x= 1)

Solution:

 let P(x= 1)= P(x=2)= x

         ⇒ 2x + 0.4 = 1

         ⇒ 2x = 0.6

         ⇒ x = 0.3

mean value = ∑ ^{3_  } i=0 x_{i}p_{i}

                    = 0(0.4) + 1(0.3) + 2(0.3)

                    = 0.9

Therefore the value of P(x = 1) = 0.9
