a rational no. is such that when you multiply it by 5/2 and add 2/3 to the product u get -7/12. What is the no.?

Let the number be x
x*5/2
=5x/2

5x/2+2/3
=(15x+4)/6

BTP,

(15x+4)/6=-7/12
=> 180x+48=-42
=> 180x=-42-48
=> 180x= -90
=> x=-90/180
=> x= -1/2

Your required answer is -1/2

5/2x+2/3= -7/12
5/2x=-7/12-2/3
5/2x= -15/12
x=-5/4*2/5
