Let the rational number = x.

7x/12 + 2/3 = 1, or

7x + 8 = 12, or

7x = 4, or

x = 4/7

The rational number is 4/7.

Check.: (4/7)(7/12) + (2/3)

= (4/12) +2/3)

= (1/3) + (2/3)

= 1. Correct.

Answer = (4/7).
