Let that number be a.

(a×5/2) + 2/3 = -7/12

5a/2 + 2/3 = -7/12

5a/2 = -7/12 - 2/3

5a/2 = -7 - 2x4 ÷ 12

5a/2 = -7-8 ÷ 12

5a/2 = 15/12

5a = 15 x 2 ÷ 12

5a = 30/12

a = 30 ÷ 5 x 12 = 30÷60 = 1/2

a = 0.5 = 1/2

Hola Mate!!

Here's your answer :-

Let the rational no. be x.

ATQ :-
( \frac{5}{2}  \times x) +  \frac{2}{3}  =  \frac{ - 7}{12}  \\  =  >  \frac{5x}{2}  +  \frac{2}{3}  =  \frac{ - 7}{12}    \\  =  >  \frac{15x + 4}{6}  =  \frac{ - 7}{12}  \\  =  > 12(15x + 4) =  - 7 \times 6 \\  =  > 180x + 48 =  - 42 \\  =  > 180x =  - 42 - 48 \\  =  > 180x =  - 90 \\  =  > x =  \frac{ - 90}{180}  \\  =  > x =  \frac{ - 1}{2}

thus \: the \:rational \:  no. \: is \:  \frac{ - 1}{2} .
Hope it helps
