Let the number be x.

So, According to question when we multiply it by 5/2 and add 2/3 to product , we get -7/12→

5x/2 + 2/3 = -7/12

or, (15x+4)/6 = -7/12

or, 15x + 4 = -7/12 × 6

or, 15x = -7/2 - 4

or, 15x = (-7-8)/2

or, 15x = -15/2

or, x = -15/2/15

or, x = -15/30

or, x = -1/2

Answer→ The number is -1/2.
